Tomato Herb Sourdough

One of my most favorite breads, the tomato herb version of sourdough is insanely simple - mix in a couple tablespoons of dried herbs with your normal flour/salt mix (I chose celery seed and cumin for this one, but have used everything from thyme to rosemary to nigella and more in the past…), then your sourdough starter/water combo, then a few tablespoons or tomato puree (or even good smoky ketchup) and a dash of olive oil before following your normal kneading/rising routine. Crazy good, with this version specially scored by my sweetheart, who’s been eager to learn the ins and outs of bread making from both a creative and scientific perspective (how cool is that)...

"If thou tastest a crust of bread, thou tastest all the stars and all the heavens.” ~ Robert Browning
