Raising meat chickens on the farm was an awesome adventure, and the French Houdans we raised were the best tasting birds of the bunch, so much so that we exclusively raised them the second time around. Heirloom chickens are smaller but tastier, and the dark meat is amazing. Pastured chicken on organic feed? The only way to go.
