Ohmygoodness. So I snapped this shot two weeks ago when it was (obviously) raining and I was totally stoked our first Oriental poppies were blooming...and promptly forgot to shoot any fully opened versions of it since, and as of this week, my two Brilliant poppies have exploded in joyfull blooms and are now exhausted and going to seed. Perhaps there will be another bloom, I certainly hope, but I wanted to document this lovely orange version of the Oriental poppy that is another favorite of ours in the front garden (and might be the same one we had in our last place had I remembered to write it down back then, hmph!). Let it multiply and take over !
"I love color. It must submit to me. And I love art. I kneel before it, and it must become mine. Everything around me glows with passion. Every day reveals a new red flower, glowing, scarlet red. Everyone around me carries them. Some wear them quietly hidden in their hearts. And they are like poppies just opening, of which one can see only here and there a hint of red petal peeking out from the green bud." ~ Paula Modersohn-Becker
