In Bloom: Daikon Radish

While I absolutely love eating daikon, particularly pickled with carrots and a little cilantro, I nearly equally love them as flowery additions to the garden! Like artichokes and cardoon, they are gorgeous ornamentals. I picked up a packet of daikon seeds in early spring and these are happily popping up in a number of places in both our front and back gardens.

Originally sowed as an edible back on the farm outside the window of my home office nook, I promptly forgot all about it until I saw these gorgeous blooms 3 feet high peeking in at me like wildflowers, and knew I had to always grow them, no matter if I harvested them or let them go wild.
