While the hydrangea hasn't always been a goal of my garden design plans in the past, it's a shrub my husband adores, and I've found certain varieties that fit right into our little city garden. This bigleaf "Endless Summer" variety is great for our backyard where they embrace the morning sun but appreciate afternoon shade, and has taken on a lovely lavender tone because of our soil. It's a bit more high maintenance water-wise, but so far, so good.
