Hebe: “Amy"


Another one of my first timers, the hebe "Amy" variety is coming up here in early August and is super impressive. Along with the Great Orme hebe that I planted nearby in our front garden, this is an evergreen that does well in heat and drought tolerant situations. The purple is SO cool, I love watching this plant evolve with its dark leaves and almost lupine-like blooms emerging, even beautiful before it's completely blossomed out. Like the other one, it benefits from deadheading, and now I just cross my fingers that our winter is not nearly as harsh as it was last time around so it survives. Being in zone 8 but weather acting like zone 7 last winter was really rough, so we'll see how this beauty holds up...
