Our first blueberry harvest! My plan to "buy time" by planting larger, older bushes from the nursery definitely was a success. The bushes are all just under 5' tall and two out of three of them are absolutely LOADED with berries.
The third, Eberhardt, is a local-ish (Olympia) variety that is the first to start ripening has a decent amount of berries but has definitely struggled the most with leaf drop, something I've never had any issues with in growing blueberries for the past 15+ years. Going to take a look at the soil and mulch situation around them as this heat wave passes over us and see what we can do to love on these more, because boy they are DELICIOUS!
Even with their struggles, I gotta say there are more berries on these than the 8 year old bushes we'd carted over from my first house to the farm...kinda rad!!
