Some flowers are planted specifically for bees, others for hummingbirds. The milkweed, as we know, is a butterfly haven, and so we added three Butterfly Weed plants near our rose garden to provide them with nectar...and get the bonus of these beautiful little orange flowers
Little bitta trivia? This particular milkweed isn't nearly AS toxic as the traditional stuff, lacking the sap that can be pretty gnarly, yet still creates the seed pods that disperse in wind. While some sites claim it takes a few years to bloom? It took ours, um, 2 months. Ba-da-bing!
Now just enjoying every moment that it gives us, and hopefully to the pollinators with the big pretty wings...
"The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough." ~ Rabindranath Tagore
